Assam: Bhupen Borah Brushes Off Batadroba MLA’s Gaffe in Pradyut Bordoloi’s Election Campaign as ‘Slip of Tongue’

Guwahati, 24th April: In the aftermath of Congress leader Sibamoni Bora’s controversial remarks urging voters to defeat MP Pradyut Bordoloi in the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Borah stepped forward to clarify the situation. According to Borah, Bora’s statement was merely a slip of the tongue and not indicative of any ill intention.

Borah emphasized that there was no malicious intent behind Bora’s statement while campaigning for Bordoloi, attributing it to human error. He sought to quell concerns about party unity and strategy for the upcoming elections, reassuring supporters that the incident was an isolated occurrence.

During an election rally, Bora had inadvertently stated, “In Nagaon Lok Sabha seat we will make sure Congress MP candidate Pradyut Bordoloi loses the election with a massive margin…I am appealing to all, tell me whether you can do it or not.” She further urged voters to press the Congress button multiple times on the EVM machine on April 26 to ensure Bordoloi’s defeat.

The incident had generated significant attention in political circles, prompting speculation about its implications for the party’s electoral prospects. However, with Borah’s clarification, the focus now shifts towards maintaining unity and coherence within the party as they continue campaigning for the upcoming polls.
