Assam: Bike Rally in Dhubri Marks World TB Day, Emphasises Community Effort

Guwahati: The National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) organised a bike rally in Dhubri to commemorate World TB Day, highlighting the importance of collective effort in combating the disease.

The event, held under the theme “TB Harega, Desh Jitega”, saw enthusiastic participation from healthcare workers and community members.

The rally featured banners and placards emphasising the crucial role of timely intervention and medical assistance in the fight against TB. Mirdha Sanowar Hossain, speaking at the event, stressed the importance of community involvement in TB eradication. He noted that public awareness and proactive health measures are essential to reducing the spread of tuberculosis.

Dr. Hossain asserted, “Eliminating TB requires consistent effort and active community participation. Only by working together can we achieve the goal of a TB-free India.” The rally concluded with participants taking a pledge to spread awareness about TB in their communities and encourage early diagnosis and treatment to help eliminate the disease.

The “TB Harega, Desh Jitega” campaign, launched in 2019, aims to improve and expand TB care services across India by 2022, with three key pillars: clinical approach, public health component, and active community participation.

The campaign has been supported by various organisations, including Janssen India, which has helped spread awareness about TB through radio stations, theatre screens, and public transport.
