Guwahati, 22nd September: In a moment of pride for Assam, Biswanath Ghat has been recognized as the Best Tourism Village of India for 2023 by the Ministry of Tourism. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement, highlighting the village’s selection from 791 applications across 31 states and union territories.
Biswanath Ghat, also known as “Gupta Kashi,” is situated south of Biswanath Chariali Town and is renowned for its ancient Biswanath temple. The town features a cluster of temples dedicated to various gods and is located at the confluence of the Bridhaganga and Brahmaputra rivers.
This recognition reflects the efforts of Assam’s government in promoting rural tourism and preserving the cultural and natural heritage of the state’s villages. The award is a testament to the warm hospitality, vibrant culture, and stunning landscapes that characterize Assam’s villages.
