Assam: BJP Exodus Continues Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections; District Secretaries Shift Loyalties to BPF
Guwahati, 23rd November: As the Lok Sabha elections approach, a notable trend emerges with leaders from the ruling BJP party shifting allegiance to other political entities. In a significant development, Subarna Barua and Jasmin Brahmi, secretaries of two BJP districts, joined the BPF (Bodoland People’s Front) along with 247 members each.
The shifting landscape was underscored by more than 500 workers from parties like BJP and UPPL formally joining the BPF in a ceremony held at the Central BPF office in Kokrajhar town. BPF vice-president and former BTC deputy chief Khampha Bargyari, MLA Raviram Narzary, former minister Pramila Rani Brahma, and councilor Prakash Brahma welcomed the newcomers with traditional gamosas.
Addressing the media, BPF vice-president Khampha Bargyari stated that the people have already decided to vote for the BPF in the upcoming elections. Meanwhile, Subarna Barua, formerly a BJP correspondent from Kokrajhar district, criticized the BJP for conducting only virtual meetings in Kokrajhar and failing to assess the condition of party workers. The shift of district secretaries reflects the dynamic political landscape in the run-up to the elections.
