Assam: BJP Leader Held For Extortion Bid In Lakhimpur

Guwahati, 14th November: In a significant development, Assam Police have arrested a BJP leader in Lakhimpur district of the state on charges of allegedly participating in brokerage activities and engaging in extortion

The arrested leader has been identified as Keramat Ali.

As per sources, Ali held the position of Chairman of the Minorities Development Board in Lakhimpur district at the time of his arrest.

Accusations against Ali include participating in brokerage activities and extorting money from individuals by using the names of MLAs and MPs.

Following the arrest, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka criticized the actions of the detained BJP leader and called for severe punishment.
