Assam: BJP Minister Hazarika Warns Against Voting for BPF, Advocates Peace and Development

Guwahati, 5th May: As the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Assam approaches, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensifies its campaign efforts, leveraging marathon rallies and election programs to mobilize support across the state. In a recent address, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika took aim at the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), cautioning voters that supporting the party would lead to the resurgence of ‘jungleraj’ in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Speaking passionately at an election campaign in Chirang, Hazarika emphasized the overwhelming support and enthusiasm witnessed during the poll rallies led by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects, highlighting the Chief Minister’s unwavering dedication to serving the people of the state.

Reflecting on past governance in the BTR, Hazarika underscored the contemporary desire for peace among the populace, contrasting it with the turbulent period marked by violence and insecurity. He cautioned against reverting to that tumultuous era, asserting that voting for the BPF would only pave the way for a return to ‘jungleraj’. Hazarika passionately advocated for peace and development, emphasizing the transformative impact achieved under the BJP’s leadership, promising continued progress and prosperity for the region.

Amidst the high-voltage campaign across Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leads massive bike rallies, rallying support for the BJP and its allies. With the constituencies of Guwahati, Barpeta, Kokrajhar, and Dhubri gearing up for polls on May 7, the stakes are high, with over 81 lakh voters expected to exercise their franchise in this crucial phase. The BJP and its regional allies aim to secure parliamentary representation for indigenous and majority communities, building on the momentum generated by the 2023 delimitation exercise.
