Assam BJP MLA Diganta Kalita Facilitates Swift Rescue of Abducted Boy from Jammu and Kashmir

Northeast, August 18, 2024 — In a remarkable act of leadership and coordination, Assam BJP MLA Diganta Kalita was instrumental in the swift rescue of Brajen Das, a young boy from Athgaon who was deceitfully taken to Jammu and Kashmir. The boy, son of Jagat Das, was safely returned to his family with the critical support of Assam’s Director General of Police (DGP), GP Singh.

The incident unfolded on August 13, 2024, when the Das family informed Kalita of their distressing situation. Wasting no time, Kalita reached out to DGP GP Singh, who immediately coordinated with the Jammu and Kashmir Police. In a swift operation, the boy was located and rescued within thirty minutes.

The following morning, August 14, 2024, Kalita arranged for his representative, Kumud Kakoti, along with an Assam Police officer, to travel to Jammu and Kashmir. Demonstrating his commitment, Kalita personally covered all travel expenses for the delegation. The team successfully retrieved Brajen Das and returned him safely to Assam later that day.

Kalita expressed his deep gratitude to DGP GP Singh, the Assam Police, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their critical roles in the successful rescue operation, highlighting the importance of collaboration and quick action in such situations.
