Assam: BJP MLA Phanidhar Talukdar Asserts AJP as Sole Opposition Force, Comments on Political Alliances

Guwahati, 7th March: BJP MLA Phanidhar Talukdar on March 7 took a direct swipe at Lurinjyoti Gogoi’s AJP party, proclaiming it as the sole opposition force in the state, seemingly disregarding the presence of other opposition parties.

Talukdar emphasized the dominance of AJP in the opposition landscape, suggesting a significant consolidation of political power within the region. He remarked, “Other opposition parties have no value or existence,” underscoring the perceived insignificance of alternative political entities.

Furthermore, Talukdar delved into the complexities of ongoing alliances among parties in the state’s 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, highlighting the fluidity of political allegiances. He remarked, “In these Lok Sabha elections, lots of leaders make lots of statements,” acknowledging the dynamic nature of political rhetoric during electoral campaigns.

Responding to recent remarks by Badruddin Ajmal concerning the Miya language in Parliament, Talukdar attributed such statements to political maneuvering aimed at securing votes. He commented, “Saying all these, Badruddin is trying to get votes, and he said all these for votes,” suggesting a strategic motive behind Ajmal’s statements.

Talukdar also commented on electoral dynamics in specific constituencies, acknowledging Congress’s stronghold in Nagaon, Dhubri, and Karimganj. He stated, “Whoever speaks what and tries to get votes from people, it is their wish,” acknowledging the diverse political strategies employed by different parties to appeal to voters.

Addressing the ban on magical healing in Assam, Talukdar commended Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s commitment to upholding the rule of law by announcing plans to prohibit magical healing practices in the state. He asserted, “Nobody is above the law,” reaffirming the government’s stance on enforcing legal regulations in Assam.
