Assam: BJP Supporters Demand Justice Following Attack on Party Member in Ramakrishnanagar

Guwahati, 22nd June: A volatile situation erupted in Ramakrishnanagar, Karimganj, Assam, as BJP supporters gathered outside the local police station demanding justice for an attack on BJP member Rajesh Das. The incident has heightened tensions within the community, leading to a strong public outcry.

Rajesh Das, who serves as the general secretary of Bhairabnagar Mandal BJP, was brutally attacked in the Kalibari area of Ramakrishnanagar on the night of June 21. The main accused in the assault is former AP member Ranjit Das, who, along with two accomplices, reportedly left Rajesh Das unconscious after the attack.

Following the assault, a case was promptly registered, and the police took swift action, arresting Ranjit Das. The other two suspects involved in the attack are still at large. BJP supporters, demanding immediate and stringent action against the attackers, surrounded the police station, emphasizing their demand for justice.

Ranjit Das was presented in court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, as the investigation continues.

Rajesh Das has alleged that the assault was motivated by his close association with MLA Vijay Malakar. He mentioned that his relationship with Ranjit Das had been strained for the past two years, hinting at personal and political undercurrents fueling the attack.

The incident has sparked significant unrest among BJP supporters, who are determined to see justice served swiftly and comprehensively. The police continue to investigate, aiming to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure a thorough and fair resolution to the case.
