Assam: BJP’s Pijush Hazarika Exudes Confidence in Jorhat Constituency Victory with 2.5 Lakh Vote Margin

Guwahati, 6th April: Amidst the electoral buzz, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika has exuded confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) triumph in the Jorhat constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, projecting a resounding victory margin of 2.5 lakh votes.

Addressing reporters in Sivasagar, Hazarika articulated, “Topon Kumar Gogoi will surely win by a margin of 2.5 lakh votes.” He outlined the evolving projections, initially estimating a winning margin of 1.5 lakh votes, which surged to 2 lakh votes as the campaign unfolded.

With campaign fervor escalating, Hazarika emphasized the growing assurance in a 2.5 lakh vote margin, attributing it to the substantial disparity in attendance between BJP and Congress gatherings. He pointed out the robust turnouts at BJP panchayat level meetings compared to Congress assemblies, citing it as a reflection of public awareness of ground realities and BJP’s impending victory in the constituency.

Regarding the merger of Akhil Gogoi’s Raijor Dal with Lurinjyoti Gogoi’s Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP), Hazarika expressed gratitude to Gogoi for recognizing Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering leadership and Sarbananda Sonowal’s pivotal role as Union Minister.

As Assam braces for the dynamic political showdown, the electoral landscape witnesses 35 candidates gearing up to contest across five parliamentary constituencies in the state’s first phase of polling on April 19.

A press statement issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) disclosed a last-minute withdrawal in the Jorhat parliamentary constituency, reducing the initial contender count to 35.

Breaking down the figures, Kaziranga emerges as the most contested seat with 11 candidates, followed by Sonitpur with 8, Lakhimpur with 9, Dibrugarh with 3, and Jorhat with 4 hopefuls.

With the BJP fielding candidates in all five constituencies and the Indian National Congress making its mark in four, including backing Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi in Dibrugarh, the electoral battleground promises a riveting contest. Notable contenders include Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh, Pradan Baruah in Lakhimpur, and Gaurav Gogoi representing Congress in Jorhat.
