Assam: Bodoland Territorial Region Declares Local Holiday for Bodo Literary Day on November 16

Kokrajhar The Government of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTC) has announced a local holiday on November 16, 2024, to commemorate “Bodo Thunlai Shaan,” or Bodo Literary Day. This special day is dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the significance of Bodo literature and culture.

In line with the observance, all government offices, as well as educational institutions within the region, will remain closed on this day. The BTC government has urged both public and private organizations to participate in the celebrations and honor the Bodo language and its literary contributions.

A notification from the government states, “The Bodoland Territorial Council is pleased to declare a Local Holiday on 16th November 2024 (Saturday) on account of the ‘Bodo Thunlai Shaan (Bodo Literary Day)’ under BTR. All Educational Institutions and Govt. Offices of Entrusted Departments of BTR shall remain closed on this date.”

The notification further encourages educational institutions to actively engage in literary activities and participate in public functions organized to celebrate Bodo Thunlai Shaan. This initiative aims to foster pride in the Bodo language and promote its literary heritage among the younger generations.

The announcement has received the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Member of BTC, reflecting the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Bodo culture and literature within the region. The observance of this day is expected to enhance awareness and appreciation for the rich literary traditions of the Bodo community.
