Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a body of a minor girl has been recovered at a village in South Salmara-Mankachar district of Assam on Friday morning.
The incident took place in Aaratar village of the district
According to reports, the victim was found with a rope tied around her neck.
Reports further stated that she had dry leaves gagged in her mouth as well.
The deceased minor girl has been identified as Abida Sultana, daughter of one Abbas Ali.
Police reached to the spot to evaluate the situation after the recovery.
Police stated that they suspected the girl was killed by strangulation and that the exact cause of her death would be determined after post-mortem.
Further investigation is underway.
