Assam: Body of One Missing Brother Recovered from Brahmaputra River in Dibrugarh

Guwahati, 13th November: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the body of Diganta Kakoti, one of the brothers missing for six days, was discovered floating in the Brahmaputra River in Dibrugarh, Assam. The tragic incident unfolded during a pind daan ceremony for their late mother at Mohanaghat, where the ritual took a devastating turn as Diganta slipped and fell into the river.

Ananta Kakoti also dove into the Brahmaputra River in an attempt to save his brother, but both were carried away by the strong currents. Diganta’s body was discovered by two people on their morning walk, and they notified the police following six days of intensive search and rescue efforts.

Diganta’s body was pulled out of the water by the police with the magistrate present. While the community deals with the tragic loss of one of the brothers in this unfortunate tragedy, the search for Ananta’s remains is still ongoing.
