Guwahati: Bringing honour to the state, Assam boy Nayanjyoti Saikia has been crowned the winner of the cooking reality show MasterChef India,
Nayanjyoti Saikia is self-trained 26 years old cook and a resident of Tinsukia, Assam.
The winner of the cooking reality show has been revealed ahead of the finale’s broadcast. After the finale shot, a photo of Nayanjyoti clutching the trophy and surrounded by crew members in the recognisable “MasterChef coat” was released by crew members after the final shoot.
Fans of the show quickly congratulated Nayanjyoti on social media, praising his well-deserved win. However, the programme has recently come under fire, with some viewers claiming that the judges were unfair to some contestants. Aruna Vijay, a vegetarian was given the option to use paneer in a cooking competition while the other contestants had to use mutton. This allowed fans to accuse the judges of partiality.
Nayanjyoti’s experience on the programme has been uneven and his performances have changed as the competition has progressed. Using Instagram, he attracted the notice of Chef Vikas Khanna. Despite his father’s initial opposition to letting him pursue cooking, Nayanjyoti persisted and eventually won the competition.
