Assam: “Brahmaputra Mahotsav 2.0: Dibrugarh Gears Up for Grand Cultural Extravaganza”

Dibrugarh, 14th July: Dibrugarh is all set to host the second edition of the “Brahmaputra Mahotsav,” a spectacular celebration of North East India’s cultural heritage, scheduled for this December. Following the resounding success of its inaugural event held on February 3-4, 2024, the festival aims to elevate its stature on the international stage by showcasing the rich and diverse traditions of the region.

Spanning nearly ten days, “Brahmaputra Mahotsav 2.0” is not just a cultural extravaganza but also an initiative to raise awareness about the ecosystem and climate change affecting the Brahmaputra river. The festival will feature a wide array of programs highlighting the vibrant cultural landscape of North East India, encompassing tourism, cuisine, handlooms, handicrafts, startups, and small-scale industries.

Apart from cultural exhibitions, the festival will include cultural exchange programs that will unite artists and performers from across the North East. Building on the success of its predecessor, “Brahmaputra Mahotsav 2.0” promises to attract renowned artists from Assam and neighboring regions, ensuring a grand celebration of the North East’s cultural heritage.

The inaugural edition, themed “The Joy of Humanity,” not only entertained but also extended financial support to the families of esteemed tea tribe artists Shivcharan Das and Kumar Suresh. Approximately 15,000 attendees enjoyed performances by Bollywood sensation Armaan Malik, who headlined alongside local talents such as Arupjyoti Barua and Cultivators of Assam, Rishisha Sharma, Arghadeep Baruah and Bottle Rockets India Band, Subil Berg, and Kamal Nag.

As Dibrugarh readies itself for “Brahmaputra Mahotsav 2.0,” anticipation is mounting among entrepreneurs and cultural aficionados alike. The festival is poised to be a landmark event, celebrating the cultural opulence of North East India while fostering awareness about critical environmental issues impacting the region.
