Assam: Brutal Attack on Four Women in Margherita Sparks Outrage, No Arrests Yet

Tinsukia: A horrifying act of violence shook Bargolai Bazaar under Margherita police station on Wednesday morning, as four women from a family were brutally assaulted by three men.

The victims were attacked with sharp iron rods, bamboo sticks, and kicked mercilessly, leaving them severely injured.

According to Raja Ram Sah, the husband of one of the victims, the incident unfolded around 7:30 AM when his wife, Renu Devi, was drying clothes outside their home.

A minor altercation with their neighbours—identified as Aftab Alam (Barka), Zulfiqar Alam (Nanki), and Azaad Alam (Mangru)—quickly escalated into a violent attack. His three daughters, Neha Kumari Sah, Sandhya Kumari Sah, and Kareena Kumari Sah, were also targeted in the assault.

The injured women were rushed to Margherita Civil Hospital for treatment and later referred to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for better medical care.

Despite an FIR being lodged at Margherita police station on the same day, the accused remain at large, raising concerns over the delay in legal action.

Raja Ram Sah has appealed to authorities, including the Margherita Co-District Commissioner, for strict action against the attackers.

The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, with Kailash Kumar Gupta, president of the All Assam Bhojpuri Parishad Central Committee, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. Local residents have also voiced their outrage, calling for swift justice and stronger law enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.
