Assam: Brutal Murder of Imam in Tinsukia Mosque Shocks Community

Guwahati, 5th November: In a horrifying incident, a 55-year-old Imam was brutally murdered by an unidentified assailant inside a mosque in the Kalabari area of Makum, Tinsukia district. The incident took place on Sunday morning while the Imam, Tejibbur Islam, was preparing for the Azan (call for prayer) at around 4 AM.

The attacker used sharp weapons, including a machete, leading to the immediate death of the Imam. An eyewitness reported attempting to intervene, but the assailant managed to escape.

Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene, recovered the victim’s body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination. The identity of the absconding assailant is still unknown, and a search operation has been initiated by the police to apprehend the perpetrator.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and fear as authorities continue their efforts to bring the perpetrator to justice.
