Assam: Brutal Murder Unveiled in Janata Bazar of Chirang; Victim Allegedly Slain by Husband

Guwahati, June 7: Residents of the Janata Bazar area, situated under the Amguri police station on the Indo-Bhutan border in Chirang, were left reeling by the revelation of a chilling murder. The victim, identified as Haiti Narzary (45), allegedly fell victim to her husband, Gaurau Narzary (60), in a shocking domestic altercation.

The grim saga unfolded over a harrowing 13-day period, culminating in the discovery of Haiti Narzary’s half-decomposed body buried in the ground, in the presence of law enforcement officials. The victim, a mother of three daughters and a son, was the second wife of Gaurau Narzary, residing in Sonapur village within the Amguri police station’s jurisdiction.

As per police accounts, the tragedy transpired on the night of May 23, amidst a domestic dispute fueled by alcohol consumption. Gaurau Narzary allegedly struck his wife with a stick, resulting in her tragic demise.

Prompted by a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s brother-in-law, authorities swiftly moved to apprehend Gaurau Narzary on Thursday. The investigation is currently underway, with law enforcement officers diligently reconstructing the sequence of events leading up to the abhorrent crime, leveraging insights provided by the accused.

This heart-wrenching incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive scourge of domestic violence, underscoring the urgent need for societal awareness and intervention to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
