Assam: BSF Foils Suspected EFC Smuggling Attempt along Indo-Bangladesh Border

Guwahati, 20th January: Border Security Force (BSF) troops on special boat patrolling near Hatsingimari, South Salmara Mankachar district, detected suspicious movement of suspected EFC (Ex-Banned Insurgent Groups) during the early hours of January 20, 2024.

Upon observing the stealthy movement, the alert troops from Border Outposts Sishumara and Boreralga took immediate action. They conducted a search operation and seized two boats loaded with sugar. The diligent troops discovered 228 sugar bags (11,400 kg) on the boats, with an estimated value of Rs 4,56,000. Additionally, the seized boat is valued at Rs 1,65,000.

The BSF, represented by the 45th Battalion, remains committed to preventing trans-border crimes, including smuggling. Their swift action led to the seizure of the suspected EFC consignment, showcasing their dedication to maintaining security along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Further legal proceedings will be initiated against the seized items.
