Assam: BTC to Celebrate ‘Bodo Bijwng San, 2024’ on May 18
Guwahati, 17th May: The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is gearing up to celebrate ‘Bodo Bijwng San, 2024’ on May 18, marking the introduction of the Bodo language as a medium of instruction in Assam’s schools. This significant event underscores the BTC’s commitment to promoting the Bodo language and culture within the region.
The BTC has assured that the celebration will not disrupt the regular operations of educational institutions or government offices under its management. Directives have been issued to all educational institutions, government, and semi-government offices within BTC’s jurisdiction to observe the day appropriately. The initiative has received the endorsement of the Chief Executive Member of the BTC.
The celebration of ‘Bodo Bijwng San’ follows closely on the heels of a two-day golden jubilee celebration of the Luki-Bekeli Bodo Sahitya Sabha, which concluded on May 12. This event included annual conferences of the Boko Anchalik Boro Jatiya Parishad, Boko Anchalik Bathou Mohaxobha, and other Bodo organizations. The jubilee celebrations culminated in open sessions, reflecting on the future of the Kamrup District Boro Sahitya Sabha.
During the opening ceremony of the jubilee celebrations, Central Boro Sahitya Sabha Secretary Nilkanta Goyari highlighted the potential impact of political decisions made by district committees on the newly formed Kamrup District Boro Sahitya Sabha. His remarks underscored the importance of cohesive leadership and strategic actions for the organization’s future.
As BTC prepares for ‘Bodo Bijwng San, 2024’, the emphasis remains on fostering the Bodo language’s growth and ensuring its integral role in the educational framework of Assam, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community.
