Assam: BTR Council Celebrates International Peace Day with Grand Event in Kokrajhar
Guwahati, 21st September: The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Council Government celebrated International Peace Day on Saturday at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Chandamari, Kokrajhar. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya attended as the chief guest, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity in the region.
The event featured notable attendees, including Gandhians such as Niketu Iralu, Yingphe Konyak (President of the Eastern Naga Women’s Organization), BTR Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and senior journalists like Prashanta Jyoti Baruah, Wasbir Hussain, and Neerja Chowdhury.
In his address, Governor Acharya expressed optimism about the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the Bodoland region and praised BTR leadership for their efforts in fostering harmony. He encouraged ongoing progress toward maintaining this peaceful environment.
Following the celebration, the Governor visited Bodoland University to engage with faculty and students on educational advancements. He also reviewed the status of various state and central government schemes at the BTC Secretariat.
Later, Governor Acharya is set to visit Dhubri, where he will inspect the India-Bangladesh border and visit the historic Ramraikuti Satra.
