Assam Cabinet Approves Investment Proposals Worth Rs 1,600 Crore: Keshab Mahanta

Guwahati, 2nd March: The Assam Cabinet, in its latest session, greenlit investment proposals totaling over Rs 1,600 crore, announced Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.

Mahanta informed reporters that four business groups have presented investment plans for Assam, which received the cabinet’s approval.

The cumulative proposed investment amounts to Rs 1,612 crore, with the potential to generate employment for 4,125 individuals, both directly and indirectly, Mahanta stated.

Apart from endorsing investment initiatives, the council of ministers deliberated on various other matters. These include sanctioning the construction of a flyover in Jorhat district, amendments to the Right to Public Service Act, and the transition of panchayati institution operations to officials as per legal provisions.

Convening for their weekly meeting in Guwahati, the Assam cabinet engaged in discussions on significant topics like the construction of a new flyover in Jorhat, securing a fresh loan from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and the imminent semiconductor revolution.

The session, held at Lok Sewa Bhawan in the secretariat, concluded with Health Minister Keshab Mahanta addressing the media, highlighting the key decisions made during the meeting.

Expressing appreciation, the assembly acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet for allocating a substantial investment of Rs 27,000 crore towards establishing a semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facility in Morigaon.
