Assam Cabinet Greenlights ₹7,730 Crore Investment Influx Following Advantage Assam Summit

Guwahati: In a move poised to significantly bolster the state’s economy, the Assam Cabinet has given the green light to a substantial ₹7,730 crore worth of investment proposals. These proposals are a direct outcome of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) inked during the recently concluded Advantage Assam 2.0 summit held in February.

This decisive action by the state government underscores its commitment to transforming Assam into a premier investment destination within the Northeast region. The anticipated impact of these investments includes the generation of significant employment opportunities for the local populace and a considerable surge in industrial growth across various sectors within the state.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit served as a platform to showcase Assam’s immense potential to a diverse group of investors, both domestic and international. The focus of the summit spanned key sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, agro-processing, and the burgeoning tourism industry.

Adding another dimension to the state’s economic outreach, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced earlier today the potential establishment of a dedicated Japanese Language Centre in Assam. This initiative is strategically aimed at equipping local professionals with the necessary language skills to tap into short-term employment opportunities in Japan.

The Chief Minister’s announcement came after a day of fruitful diplomatic discussions with a delegation from ASEAN ONE, led by Toshiaki Nishikawa. This prospective language center is envisioned as a crucial component of Assam’s broader strategy to cultivate enduring educational and economic partnerships with Japan, with a particular emphasis on skill development and facilitating human resource exchange.
