Assam Cabinet Reshuffle on the Cards; Barak Valley Representation Likely

Guwahati: A potential cabinet reshuffle in Assam is brewing, with a strong possibility of a minister representing the Barak Valley being included. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hinted at this development during a recent media interaction.

Sarma suggested that the reshuffle might involve the appointment of two new ministers, but the final decision hinges on a crucial meeting scheduled in Delhi. “We are considering adding a minister from the Barak Valley. However, if the need arises for two or three more ministers, we will explore that option as well,” he stated.

The Chief Minister emphasized that consultations are currently underway and the final decision will be made after detailed discussions in the national capital.

The Barak Valley, a region renowned for its rich cultural and linguistic diversity, has long sought increased representation in the state government. Sarma’s statement indicates the government’s commitment to addressing these aspirations.

Further updates are expected to emerge following the Delhi meeting.
