Assam: Cachar Businessman Robbed by Fake CBI Officials

Assam: A group of 15-20 armed individuals, posing as officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), executed a daring robbery at the residence of Abul Hussain, a prominent local businessman in Cachar.

The gang, after deceiving their way into the house under the pretext of official duty, proceeded to intimidate the family with firearms. They tied up the family members before systematically looting valuables from the residence.

The robbers made off with a substantial amount of cash, estimated at Rs 35 lakh, and jewellery worth over Rs 10 lakh. In their attempt to escape, the culprits seized Hussain’s Scorpio vehicle and drove it for approximately 500 meters before abandoning it on the road along with the keys.

They then fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind. This audacious heist has sent shockwaves through the region, with residents expressing disbelief at the brazenness of the act.

Local police promptly arrived at the scene and have initiated an investigation into the incident. Efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this crime.
