Assam: Cachar District Launches Special Summary Revision Drive to Update Electoral Roll Ahead of 2024 Elections
Silchar— Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav met with representatives of all recognized political parties to officially release the 2024 Draft Electoral Roll and announce the commencement of an intensive Special Summary Revision drive.
The initiative is part of a focused effort to create an inclusive and accurate voter base, highlighting the district administration’s commitment to a transparent electoral process.
During the meeting, Commissioner Yadav emphasized the need for precise voter data and outlined a dedicated two-month period for residents to update their information.
The district administration has made available key forms to aid the revision process, including Form 6 for new voter inclusion, Form 8 for corrections or address changes, and Form 7 for name deletions.
To maximize outreach, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door visits, guiding residents through the update process and ensuring that all eligible voters are correctly registered.
Additionally, Special Voter Camps will be set up at polling stations on November 9, 10, 16, and 17, 2024, providing on-the-spot assistance, clarifications, and revisions to make the update process as seamless as possible.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Commissioner (Election) Van Lal Limpuia Nampui, Election Officer Masi Topno, and Electoral Registration Officers from Cachar’s seven constituencies, reflecting the administration’s collective commitment to fostering transparency and efficiency in the electoral system.
Residents are also encouraged to stay informed through social media updates from the District Election Office, Cachar, ensuring they can actively participate in shaping the voter roll for the upcoming elections.
