Assam: Campaigning for Second Phase of Lok Sabha Elections Ends Today

Guwahati, 24th April: The campaign frenzy for the second phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 concludes today, April 24. As the countdown begins for polling day on April 26, anticipation mounts across the nation, with 89 constituencies spread across 13 states gearing up for voting.

The first phase of polling, held on April 19, witnessed a robust voter turnout of approximately 64 percent, reflecting the electorate’s active participation in the democratic process.

Spanning seven phases, the ongoing Lok Sabha Election represents a crucial moment for the nation’s democratic journey. In the upcoming second phase, voters from diverse regions, including Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Jammu & Kashmir, will cast their ballots to shape the political landscape.

Meanwhile, authorities in key districts of Assam have declared a dry day from 5 pm on April 24 until the evening of April 26. This proactive measure aims to ensure a fair and orderly electoral environment by curbing potential disruptions associated with alcohol consumption. The directive encompasses a broad spectrum of establishments involved in the sale and provision of alcoholic beverages, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a conducive atmosphere for the electoral process.
