Guwahati, 13th April: Law enforcement authorities in Assam’s Hailakandi scored a significant victory on Saturday with the arrest of a notorious drug smuggler and the confiscation of a substantial quantity of cannabis, officials revealed.
Acting on intelligence provided by local sources, the police launched a targeted operation that resulted in the seizure of five kilograms of marijuana.
The suspect apprehended in connection with the cannabis smuggling operation has been identified as Subhash Suklabaidya. He is currently in police custody pending further legal proceedings.
According to Hailakandi police, Suklabaidya was intercepted while traveling in an autorickshaw, and a search of his belongings led to the discovery of the cannabis consignment.
