Assam: Cannabis Worth Rs 20 Lakhs Seized In Major Bust In Assam’s Hojai
Guwahati: In a massive operation, team of Assam Police seized huge amount of marijuana (Cannabis) weighing around 200 kilograms from Hojai Railway Station on Sunday.
Acting on specific information, sleuths of Hojai Police has conducted an search on a running train in which they seized the narcotic substances.
During the operation, police officials seized 105 packages of marijuana weighting 192kilograms from Agartala Rani Kamlapati Express
It needs to be noted that Agartala Rani Kamlapati Express ran from Lumding in Assam.
The seized cannabis packages were hidden in the washrooms of coaches S8 and S11 of the train, officials informed.
They were unable to connect the packages to any train passenger, so they were unable to make any arrests. Police stated that investigations are being conducted to find the smugglers.
The Hojai, Lumding, and Railway police worked together to conduct the operation under the direction of additional superintendent of police (ASP) of the Hojai district Ponjit Dowarah.
The value of the cannabis that was confiscated is estimated to be over Rs 20 lakhs on the criminal markets around the world.
