Assam Cattle Bill introduced to oppress Muslims: Akhil Gogoi

Guwahati: Raijor Dol leader and Legislator, Akhil Gogoi alleged that the new Assam Cattle Preservation Bill, 2021 has been introduced to harass and oppress certain communities in Assam.

Akhil Gogoi criticizing the new bill said, “After reading the bill I have come to a conclusion that the BJP led government in Assam has introduced the bill only with a view to oppress the Muslims as well as the Christians. The bill clearly portrays the agenda of the RSS and BJP.”

He added, “The bill has not banned eating beef in the state but it has made the process much more complex. But, the bill seems to be making the consumption of cattle above the ages 14 or the cattle who had met with accidents legal. Now, this seems to be another complexity as a bull who is that old cannot be fit for consumption.”

Gogoi further added the will be another pressure on the lifestyle of certain communities and apart from this, the bill will also affect the rural economy as most of the cattle market will see a closure.

He claimed that if the cattle cannot be traded and cannot be used for anything else, then “Why would people have them?”
