Assam: Cattle Smuggling Bid Foiled in Dhubri, One Arrested
Guwahati: Golakganj police in Assam’s Dhubri district acted swiftly this morning, intercepting a cattle smuggling attempt and nabbing one individual. Six cattle heads, being transported illegally, were seized during the operation.
The incident unfolded around 6:30 am today at North Raipur on National Highway 17, close to the railway overbridge. Alert police personnel flagged down a Tata 407 vehicle, bearing registration number AS-17C-5410.
Upon a thorough inspection, officers found six cattle crammed inside the vehicle, being transported without any valid documentation.
The accused, identified as 30-year-old Abbas Ali, son of Mofijuddin Miya, from Chagolia Part-II under Golakganj Police Station, was immediately taken into custody at the scene.
Police officials stated that this successful operation underscores the Golakganj Police’s ongoing commitment to cracking down on illegal cross-border activities and protecting livestock. A probe has been launched to identify and apprehend other individuals who might be connected to this smuggling ring.
