Assam: CBI Files Chargesheet Against Deputy Chief Engineer of Northeast Frontier Railways in DA Case
Guwahati, 13th November: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has submitted a chargesheet against the former Deputy Chief Engineer (Survey/Construction) of Northeast Frontier Railways, located in Maligaon, Guwahati, Assam. The charges were filed in connection to a disproportionate assets case.
The case was initiated on November 30, 2021, accusing the individual of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The allegations suggest that, during the period from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2019, the accused acquired assets amounting to approximately Rs. 2,15,28,395, constituting around 89.96% of disproportionate assets concerning his known income.
Earlier searches conducted at Jorhat and Guwahati premises linked to the accused resulted in the discovery of documents related to immovable properties and locker keys.
The chargesheet marks the culmination of the investigation conducted by the CBI, and it underscores the principle that individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a fair trial as per Indian law.
