Assam Chief Minister Envisions World-Class Sporting Infrastructure to Nurture Future Sports Icons

Guwahati, January 10: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on January 10, outlined his vision for establishing world-class sporting infrastructure in the state to cultivate and produce top-notch sporting talent. Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to position Bharat as a formidable sporting power, CM Sarma expressed optimism that, with the right infrastructure and support system, the next Messi, Ronaldo, or Mbappe might emerge from Assam.

Taking to platform X, CM Sarma stated, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji has a vision to establish Bharat as a great sporting power, and achieving this is our collective goal 🥅. We, in Assam, love football, and if we have the right infrastructure & support system – the next Messi, Ronaldo, or Mbappé will come from our State!”

In a significant boost to the Indian footballing community, CM Sarma recently allocated Rs 600 crore for the construction of an international stadium in Guwahati and Rs 150 crore for the Kokrajhar stadium. This strategic move aims to provide substantial support to the burgeoning sporting talent in the state, aligning with the larger goal of elevating India’s stature in the global sporting arena.
