Assam Chief Minister Highlights 16.41% Reduction in Road Fatalities
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on January 17, announced a significant reduction in road fatalities in the state, with a 16.41% decrease recorded between December 24, 2024, and January 15, 2025.
The state witnessed 163 fatalities during this period, a notable decrease from the 195 fatalities reported in the same timeframe last year. Despite this positive trend, the Chief Minister emphasized that the loss of 163 lives remains a grave concern.
In a statement on the microblogging platform X, the CM remarked, “While this improvement is encouraging, the loss of 163 lives remains a grave concern. We must continue working together to prevent every single death and ensure safer roads.”
The Assam government remains committed to road safety, pledging to implement further measures to reduce accidents and protect the lives of its citizens.
