Assam Chief Minister Highlights Investment Opportunities and Partnerships in Mumbai

Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed optimism about the state’s potential to attract substantial investments during a press conference in Mumbai.

The Chief Minister underscored Assam’s dual focus on infrastructure development and investment promotion as key drivers of the state’s economic growth.

“Our focus is both infrastructure and investment,” Sarma stated, adding, “I think keeping both in mind, we should be able to get a good chunk of investment, but how much I cannot say now. I do not have any target, but ‘Yeh Dil Maange More.'” His remarks reflected Assam’s ambitious approach to economic development and the state government’s determination to create a thriving business ecosystem.

Sarma highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by the state to attract industries, including streamlining the clearance process. “We always strive to secure clearances promptly from both the state and Central governments. For this, we work hand-in-hand to ensure a seamless process,” he explained, emphasizing Assam’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly environment.

As part of his Mumbai tour, the Chief Minister met with prominent business leaders, including Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata and his son Neville Tata. Sarma expressed his gratitude for the Trusts’ ongoing investments in Assam and extended an invitation to the Tatas to participate in the upcoming Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.

In another significant meeting, Sarma engaged with Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra over lunch at Gateway Building, Steven Street. During the discussion, the Chief Minister lauded Mahindra’s vision for industrialization and expressed the Assam government’s keen interest in partnering with the Mahindra Group to accelerate the state’s industrial development.

These high-level meetings and the Chief Minister’s outreach efforts reflect Assam’s strategic push to attract major investments and forge partnerships with industry leaders. Sarma’s engagements in Mumbai signify a step forward in the state’s mission to position itself as a hub for economic growth and industrial innovation.
