Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Four-Day Tour Across Five Districts
Guwahati, September 3, 2024 – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a comprehensive four-day tour across five key districts: Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Bishwanath, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia. The tour, scheduled to include a series of significant events, underscores Sarma’s commitment to regional development and cultural recognition.
During his visit, the Chief Minister will honor the martyrs who raised the Tiranga at Sootea Police Station in 1942, paying tribute to their sacrifice. He will also seek blessings from revered figures Gurujonas Sri Sri Madhavdev and Sri Sri Anirudhdev, reflecting his dedication to Assam’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
In Lakhimpur, Sarma will chair a crucial Assam Cabinet Meeting aimed at making key welfare decisions impacting the state’s future. Additionally, he will dedicate a new Chief Minister’s secretariat in Dibrugarh, marking a significant administrative milestone.
The tour will also feature the inauguration of new projects, site inspections for upcoming educational institutions, and a review of the progress of ongoing constructions. These activities are part of Sarma’s broader strategy to enhance infrastructure and educational opportunities in the state.
On September 3, Sarma addressed BJP workers in Guwahati, describing the party’s membership drive as a “sacred Maha Yagya” and emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to meritocracy. He criticized the Congress for its “parivarvaad” or family-based politics, contrasting it with the BJP’s principle of avoiding rule by a single family. Sarma highlighted the BJP’s strong foundation aimed at preventing dynastic control, reinforcing the party’s focus on merit and organizational integrity.
