Assam: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Pledges Enhanced Road Connectivity

Guwahati, 30th January: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a statement on microblogging site X, reaffirmed the commitment to bridge road infrastructure gaps in Assam, fostering seamless connectivity and bringing communities closer through ongoing development projects.

Highlighting the state government’s dedication to improving road infrastructure, Chief Minister Sarma emphasized various schemes aimed at enhancing connectivity throughout Assam. The government’s active involvement in road development initiatives seeks to create a robust network, reducing travel times and promoting economic development across the state.

Key among these projects is Assom Mala 1.0, inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on February 7, 2021. This initiative, with an investment of Rs 1,859 crore utilized till 2023, has significantly contributed to the development of roads like Palasbari Mirza Chandubi, Nahar Ali, and major bridges over Dikrong and Subansiri rivers, enhancing state connectivity.

The ASRIP, focusing on 247 km across 8 packages, including Dhodor Ali with bridges over Subansiri, reflects a commitment to improving secondary road networks. With an investment of ₹380 crore utilized to date, the project aims to enhance road corridors, contributing to the state’s overall connectivity.

Addressing diverse regions, the ASCCIP covers 312.5 km in 11 packages, extending development to areas like Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, BTR, and Barak Valley. The utilization of Rs 534 crore till 2023 underscores the success of the initiative in fostering economic cooperation and connectivity.
