Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Undertakes Major Cabinet Reshuffle
Guwahati, 18th June: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has implemented a significant cabinet reshuffle, redistributing key ministerial responsibilities within his team. Announced today by the Governor of Assam on the Chief Minister’s advice, this reshuffle marks a pivotal moment in the state’s governance structure.
In the new allocation of portfolios, Chief Minister Sarma retains control of several crucial departments, including Home, Personnel, Public Works, Health & Family Welfare, Medical Education & Research, and Indigenous & Tribal Faith and Culture. Additionally, he will oversee any unallocated departments.
Minister Keshab Mahanta, previously responsible for Transport, Fisheries, Excise, Science, Technology & Climate Change, and Information Technology, will continue to manage these vital sectors following the reshuffle.
This reallocation of ministerial roles follows the resignation of Parimal Suklabaidya from the Council of Ministers, a move acknowledged and accepted by the Governor. The reshuffle aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the state government’s operations as it addresses various administrative and developmental challenges.
