Assam Chief Minister Inaugurates New Secretariat in Dibrugarh

Guwahati, September 6, 2024 — Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially inaugurated the CM’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh on Friday, marking a significant expansion of administrative services outside the state’s capital, Dispur. This new facility is the first of its kind to be established in a district town.

During his visit, CM Sarma took several key decisions in his inaugural session at the new office. In a post on X, he emphasized the importance of this development, stating, “Today, I had the privilege to join Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @sarbanandsonwal dangoriya and my other colleagues to dedicate the Chief Minister’s secretariat in Dibrugarh. This secretariat is not just a building but illustrates our sustained efforts to bring governance closer to the people.”

The new secretariat is expected to significantly enhance accessibility for residents in Upper Assam. CM Sarma announced that he will spend four days each month in Dibrugarh to better address local concerns. This initiative aims to streamline administrative processes for the people in nine districts: Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Golaghat, Charaideo, Lakhimpur, and Dhemaji, thus reducing the need for travel to Guwahati.

The Chief Minister also assured that this move will lead to faster decision-making and more efficient project implementation in the region.
