Assam Chief Minister Introduces Negative Marking in ADRE for Streamlined Recruitment
Guwahati, 15th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced significant changes to the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE), introducing negative marking for Grade III and IV job tests. This decision, inspired by Uttar Pradesh’s model, aims to streamline the recruitment process amidst a surge in applicants.
With an overwhelming 11 lakh candidates competing for approximately 13,000 vacancies this year, the ADRE stands out as one of the largest recruitment drives in recent Assam history. Chief Minister Sarma, addressing concerns raised by aspirants and the public, confirmed on July 13 that the exam’s existing format will be preserved.
The ADRE will continue with its traditional structure, featuring a written examination followed by a viva voce, as affirmed by Sarma. This announcement marks a departure from earlier considerations to align the exam syllabus with that of the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) for third and fourth-grade positions.
The introduction of negative marking is expected to enhance the selection process’s efficiency and fairness, ensuring that only the most qualified candidates secure government jobs in Assam.
