Assam Chief Minister Invites President Droupadi Murmu to 50th Karbi Youth Festival

Guwahati, 14th December: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma extends a warm invitation to President Droupadi Murmu to attend the 50th Karbi Youth Festival, scheduled from January 12th to January 19th, 2024.

Recognized as India’s oldest ethnic festival, the celebration in Taralangso, on the outskirts of Diphu Town, is a vibrant showcase of Karbi heritage.

The Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang, joins in the enthusiasm for the golden jubilee celebration of the festival, emphasizing its cultural significance not only to the local community but also to the nation.

The Karbi Youth Festival serves as a cultural platform for the younger generation to connect with their roots through traditional dances, music, arts and crafts exhibitions, and the savouring of traditional Karbi cuisine.

The event transforms Taralangso into a lively hub of festivity, echoing with cultural pride.

Beyond being a celebration of Karbi heritage, the festival contributes to fostering inter-community bonds and promoting tourism in the region.
