Assam Chief Minister Unveils Mahatma Gandhi Statue at New Assembly Building
Guwahati, 11th September: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked the commencement of the five-day autumn session of the Assam Legislative Assembly on Monday by unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi. The statue is situated within the premises of the newly constructed Assam Legislative Assembly building in Guwahati.
This session is historic as it is the first time that proceedings are taking place in the newly built Assam Assembly Building, adding significance to the legislative activities.
During this session, several important bills are scheduled to be introduced, including the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill and various bills pertaining to the establishment of new universities.
The unveiling of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue serves as a symbol of reverence for his principles of non-violence, truth, and social harmony, which continue to inspire the people of Assam and the nation.
