Assam Chief Minister Urges Jharkhand Leaders to Join BJP, Criticizes Congress on Caste Census
Guwahati, August 26, 2024: In a notable political move, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who also serves as the BJP’s Jharkhand in-charge, has called on former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren and current Chief Minister Hemant Soren to align with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking on Monday, Sarma emphasized the need for addressing the issue of illegal infiltration in Jharkhand and expressed the BJP’s readiness to engage in discussions with Hemant Soren to tackle this challenge.
Sarma extended an invitation to Champai Soren, acknowledging his prominence and suggesting that his inclusion could strengthen the BJP’s position. He also urged Hemant Soren to consider joining the BJP, stressing the party’s commitment to addressing the influx of intruders in Jharkhand. “Our primary concern is safeguarding Jharkhand and fulfilling our election promises. The presence of intruders is a critical issue, and our party’s objective is to eliminate this threat,” Sarma stated.
In addition to his outreach efforts, Sarma criticized the Congress party for allegedly withholding caste census data from Karnataka, contrasting it with the BJP’s actions in Bihar. “While the BJP has conducted a caste census in Bihar, the Congress, despite conducting a similar exercise in Karnataka, has not released the data. There should be no double standards in this matter,” Sarma remarked, intensifying his critique of the opposition’s stance on the issue.
