Assam: Child shot dead in man animal-conflict
Guwahati: A two-year-old child was shot and killed after forest personnel allegedly resorted to open fire to chase away a herd of wild elephants in the Kamrup district of Assam on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Arbi Daimary.
The incident took place in the Bondapara area of Boko town of the district.
However, a herd of elephants came down to paddy fields in search of food.
According to reports, her mother identified as Malabika Daimary also sustained bullet injury in the incident.
It may be mentioned that the forest department officials were deployed in the area after the wild elephants injured one local youth named Sanjoy Das on Friday morning.
