Assam: Chirang Court Sentences Two to 20 Years for Gang Rape of Minor
Assam: The Chirang District Sessions Judge’s Court has delivered a strong verdict against two individuals convicted of the gang rape of a 17-year-old minor girl.
The incident occurred in March 2023 within the jurisdiction of the Garubhasha Police Outpost under Sidli Police Station.
The court found Ratan Kisku and Thomas Kisku guilty under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
For their heinous crime, the court has sentenced both Ratan Kisku and Thomas Kisku to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
In addition to the imprisonment, the court imposed a substantial fine of 50,000 rupees on each convict. The court order clearly states that failure to pay the imposed fine will result in an additional two years of imprisonment for each individual.
This judgment serves as a powerful deterrent against sexual violence against minors and underscores the unwavering commitment of the judicial system to protecting the rights and safety of children.
