Guwahati: A Police Circle Inspector (CI) and his Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Kharupetia have been arrested by the sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption Cell of Assam for allegedly accepting bribe from Darrang district.
The arrested circle officer has been identified as Achyut Dutta and his PSO as Diganta Baruah.
Operation had been started by anti-corruption squad officials in response to a Wednesday complaint made by Surab Ali of Dhula.
The duo was arrested while taking Rs 10,000 from the complainant for assistance in a criminal case.
A significant sum of cash was reportedly also been recovered when search operations were started at CI Achyut Dutta’s official apartment.
Meanwhile, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh tweeted, “Today, @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed & arrested Const Diganta Baruah PSO to Inspector Achyut Dutta CI Kharupetia Darrang district after he accepted bribe from the complainant for giving relief in a criminal case. PSO and CI are being arrested.”
