Assam: Clash Erupts Between Student Organizations at Guwahati University
Guwahati, 18th March: A clash erupted between the Gauhati University Students’ Union and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Guwahati University, stemming from a disagreement over entry into the BKB Auditorium.
The altercation escalated into a physical confrontation between the two organizations, resulting in a heated clash on the university campus. Sources indicate that ongoing tensions related to anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests contributed to the escalation of the conflict.
The Gauhati University Students’ Union, along with other student organizations, had been protesting against the display of black flags and anti-CAA demonstrations within the university premises. The clash coincided with the ABVP State Students’ Leaders’ Conference, scheduled to take place at the BKB Auditorium.
Tensions escalated when ABVP members attempted to rally for their conference at the auditorium, leading to a confrontation between the two sides and resulting in a physical altercation.
