Guwahati: In a tragic and mysterious incident, a class 8 student identified as Kunal Barman lost his life after falling into a ditch near Kalighat in Pathsala, Assam, on April 27. Kunal was a student of Christ Jyoti School and a resident of Sadereguri village under Bajali’s Ghatbor area.
According to initial reports, Kunal had ventured into a remote field early in the morning with four friends, moving far away from the main road. After spending considerable time in the secluded area, the mishap occurred under unclear circumstances. Shockingly, his companions fled the scene following the incident.
Upon receiving information, Pathsala Police, along with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), launched a rescue operation. Kunal’s body was eventually recovered from the ditch by SDRF personnel.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to uncover what led the boys into the isolated field, with the situation raising suspicions due to the unexplained actions of the group and the sudden tragedy.
The community remains in mourning as it grapples with the heartbreaking and mysterious loss of a young life.
