Assam CM Advocates Ideological Integrity at Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha’s Annual Session

Guwahati, 11th February: Addressing the 93rd Annual Session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha in Rangia on February 11, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma issued a stirring plea, emphasizing the importance of maintaining ideological purity at the revered platform.

Expressing profound concerns, Sarma asserted, “Individuals with ideologies contrary to the essence of Srimanta Sankardeva should never grace the sacred stage of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha.” He lamented instances where figures like Badruddin Ajmal were given invitations to the sanctified podium.

“My inner heart cries out loud. Those who lack respect for women, advocating for the perpetual veiling of women, and reducing them to mere machines for childbirth—such individuals have no place on the platform of Srimanta Sankardeva,” Sarma passionately stated.

The Chief Minister’s impassioned remarks echoed the foundational principles of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha, dedicated to promoting the cultural legacy and spiritual teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva.

Recognizing the pivotal role of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha in safeguarding Assam’s cultural heritage and advancing education, Sarma expressed gratitude and assured unwavering support from the government. He affirmed, “Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha should never doubt our support, whether financial or otherwise.”

Established in 1930, the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha stands as a bastion of Assam’s socio-religious fabric, upholding the teachings of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdev while leading initiatives in education and cultural preservation.
