Assam CM and National Leaders Pay Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on His 155th Birth Anniversary
Guwahati, 2nd October: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary, emphasizing the enduring relevance of the Mahatma’s principles in today’s society. CM Sarma highlighted how Gandhi’s revolutionary ideals and extraordinary foresight remain central to fostering social welfare and public service.
“Mahatma Gandhi was not just a visionary but an extraordinary revolutionary whose thoughts continue to guide us in building a better society,” said Sarma. He stressed the collective responsibility to uphold Gandhi’s ideals, particularly in public service, and affirmed that his teachings are a source of inspiration for shaping a just and compassionate world.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar visited Rajghat in New Delhi to pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi, reflecting the nation’s reverence for his role in shaping India’s history.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Manohar Lal, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also visited the iconic memorial to offer their homage. Prime Minister Modi expressed his deep respect for Gandhi’s ideals, writing on social media platform X, “On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony, and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen.”
